A GOOD INTENTION

I am no where near perfect,

So yes, i should resolve

To improve myself each year.

At the end of each day,

 Fold your clothes and put them away,

 No matter how tired you are.

A good resolution for this year

NATURE'S SECRET IS LOVE

 I walk around in my garden, touching leaves, flower petals, the earth, the grass. I am alive and so are they. We share a common bond; a mystery of creation.

And so here we are; a part of something larger, something designed, something beautiful. I tell myself, i intend to be beautiful everyday of my life.

I breath in the air of early morning. I hold energizing my being. I exhale gratitude and praise for something higher, mightier than them and me exist; and it is good.

different colours bloom -

there's no heartbreak in this space

only beauty dwells

Stars in the planetarium,

As they whirled overhead,

Awesome.

Viewed in yester millenium,

What a dynamic spread,

For some.

Fishes in the aquarium,

How lovely they all said.

Buy some,

And also an anthurium

For the vase by the bed,

Saw some

REMEMBERING DEE

 Cinnamon and cloves i think of her

Chives and thyme also call her to mind

At Saturday market she was a seller

Cinnamon and cloves i think of her

Her ground cocoa beans never a failure

In a small hand mill she would grind

Cinnamon and cloves i think of her

Chives and thyme also call her to mind

NEED ICE

These sunny days are ripe,

For bags of cubes of ice,

To cool the Carnival hype.

Music of steelbands spice,

An ecosystem of bachannal,

 Energizing the art of costume making,

And masquerade choosing.

Ice cold drinks under sunny skies;

 Menu for Dry Season guise.

[Snowflakes wallapaper from bing.com]

FIRST SNOW

This is strange all very strange.

Outside the air is like an airconditioned shopping mall;

Inside the shopping mall its surprisingly warm,

I'm wearing one of my sister's coats,

Going to buy a pair of high heeled boots that go way up to my calves.

Christmas reindeers with red noses

are visible on high shelves.

I haven't heard a parang tune; not a single one.

This is strange all very strange.

Everywhere i go they must be steering at my wide-eyed amazement.

I haven't seen a green tree about;

You know, like the mango Vere tree across the street back home,

even though it bears no mangoes this time of the year.

But there will be a kiskadee perched,

On the topmost branch.

How they stay there,  it never ceases to amaze me.

This is strange all very strange.

I wouldn't say i am easily amazed,

But just that some things are truly amazing;

Like when my sister calls me to the half opened door.

There are white feathery thingies falling from the sky,

My natural response to this awesome spectacle is to cup my hands,

trying to capture a handful.

Oh so this is what snowflakes are

All about!

I am a happy tourist to a winter sky.

This is strange all very strange.

No way no how will i ever see that back home.

We buy at Christmas time decorations: baubles,

a gauzy stuff called angel hair, and packs of course white granules labled snow.

January: the Christmas joy morphs into a celebration of sun. Reflecting, dazzling, amazing, awe inspiring. Tinsel and baubles go into hiding as boldfaced razzle dazzle takes over. Sequins rule. The band leaders are in their glory. The costumes on the wall must come alive for Carnival Monday and Tuesday. The stitchers work, day into evening into night. I know what they must be thinking "Everything i do is stitched with its colour" Such is the hype of the Season of Carnival. Where fun frolic colour and dazzle call the tempo of the day.
