THIS PLACE
Who would have thought this place could
be so now; without hug-up, and shoulder slaps
or people laughing: hard hard, loud loud
and the streets bare, like a bald headed man
Who would have thought this place could
exist in the annuals of our history, so soon
No tabla, no tassa no steelpan would
dare to enliven a crowded street, because
we court death, for corona virus strains, could
wipeout any dancing street of Trinidad and Tobago
to a page subtitled long time this place could.

  8. Hard to imagine before the pandemic, Gillena, but it’s become a normality, which we all want to be over ad get back to ‘hug-up’, shoulder slaps and people laughing. When it’s safe, there will be street life again.

  10. It's going to feel weird being in crowds again -- whenever that happens. The restrictions are being lifted where I live at the end of the month, but I'm in no rush to get out there.
