Praying Hands’ (1508) by Albrecht Dürer courtesy, dVerse poetry pub

 A Heartfelt Prayer

Engrave your whistles morning birds,

So every clock is useless,

And let me awake to your hirds,

For dawn is always more or less,

That invitation to all the words,

Spoken from the a sunless,

Sky waiting for when moon,

Vanishes behind cloud curds.

  1. A delightful prayer, Gillena. I love the opening lines and the way the moon ‘vanishes behind cloud curds’.

  3. I like how you directly address the morning here, Gillena. The birds that make clocks useless and the cloud curds such creative thinking and imagery.

  4. Morning is often the best of the day... especially when day is too warm to enjoy.
