[painting of Emil Nolde courtesy dVerse poetry pub]
Every Reason - A fold
Where is there equality in our world?
All's unfair every reason to discontent,
The dainty yellows now unfurled,
Think they are fairest of them all,
Where is there equality in our world?
Broad intoxicating reds, oh so
Gaudy, floral vixens unreserved,
The purples claim to be royal,
Though no septre will be  twirled,
Yet side by side the're put together,
Where is there equality in our world?

  1. A good question, Gillena. Apt for both parts of the prompt, I think.

I saw in the painting I chose, more sadness, after learning more about the artist.

  2. Let's see the beauty in the diversity with no bloom or color superior to any other!

  4. The fold is the perfect poem for the image, Gillena, and the question at the heart of it is so important.

  8. Gillena, I really like the impact of the repeating question and how you used the color of the flowers to reflect the reasons that each flower thinks it is superior to the others. Brilliant writing.
