NIGHTMARE
When the trees embraced us we knew then
That our faces were hidden in nightmares
For how else can one flutter when
The shutters of evening snap shut
Allowing only what we knew then
To be winding ways of cauldron
Steeping molten onions dragons and men
Fastened inside snores and whimpers
Caring only for the path which appears again
To take us back to a home waiting
And the safety of open doors we knew then

  1. This feels like a dream - strange logic, claustrophobia, eerie. I like it a lot.

  18. Gillena, I liked this. Sort of sounded like the California Hotel song, "You can check out but you cannot leave." Sorry I'm so late but I have to get on this computer, most I do on my smart phone but google has made it only answer blogger posts with anonymous status and so I can't comment to you back using it. I think google is trying to make us toe the line and follow their whims. But they don't tell us what the whim is. It works fine on the WordPress. I'm getting quite a few anonymous now that I've let them in. Most tell who they are. This one I haven't given in and tell them anything.
