Challenge: to write a quadrille using any form of the word muse

QUADRILLE - MUSE

Amusing, oh how these days,
Coy of old things, of old ways,
Pulling back and marching forward,
Sound the dawn, with ontoward
Expletives, of drunkard reverie.
Yes, bars are opened again so verily,
Shadows will walk staggering,
Steeped in oratories slurring
With stories revealing.

  4. What a visual description, and strong description, I felt I was there, and saw the personages there, so well done and so powerful...how true, also..

  8. This is incredibly poignant! I resonate with; "bars are opened again so verily shadows will walk staggering, steeped in oratories." Hopefully 2022 will prove to be calm and peaceful. Happy New Year, Gillena 💝💝

  10. Greeting Gillena, Hope you are in good health and enjoying life. Nice to connect again. It seems to be a day of recalling my mother today. And this made me think on how afraid of folks weaving home from bars my mother was. You paint a clear picture. Best Regards

It is back to what it was again, Gillena! Things will fall into place naturally! If only it can be to those prior to the pandemic situation. That would be nice!

  12. Hello Gillena - I hope the house does not look too bare devoid of the Chrissy decorations! Here's to much merriment in 2022, Such different responses around the globe! In Bangkok our bars have closed again but here in the UK all is reopening.

  13. Nice quadrille. I really like the descriptions of staggering walking and loud talking in a drunk state.

  14. Oh the liquid muse of libations. How had I forgotten. Lovely quadrille. Cheers.

  15. I think the bars opened and people needed to get out! People have been confined for so long. The bars have been opened here for a year. Restaurants/bars close here and there due to covid and lack of help.

  16. Pulling back and marching forward...
That's the lurchy dance we're stepping to these days. Liquid courage will help. Or harm. Either way, cheers to a fine quadrille!

  21. Love this. The idea of the double edged sword of pulling back and marching forward is a real insight. Lavishing traditions whilst we purge the year for one anew. Great poem.

  22. It's nice that the bars are open, at least, Gillena!

    Lovely poem.

  25. "Steeped in oratories slurring" excellent way of describing the individual who has been at the bar too long.
But I'm most interested in your statement that you were about to take down your Christmas curtains. I have many decorations for the holidays, many with sentimental attachment. The only one similar to this would be our Aunt Flo's Christmas tablecloth which I proudly use each season. I've never heard of Christmas curtains. Would love to see them!
