PAPER WINDMILLS

Amidst the lively music

The costumed revelers

Bright sunshine

And cumulus mounds of cloud

There walks about

The windmill seller

He lacks neither colour

Nor motion

Stuck into a pole

Are little whorls

To dazzle and mesmerize

The little ones onlooking

Look! paper windmills

I want one

I want one

I want one too.

  1. Oh, how I used to love those little windmills! (Made of celluloid when I was a kid.) Thanks for the reminder.

  3. A lovely little romp into the world of childhood, Gillena. Thank you. Here in the U.S., we call them pinwheels. But by whatever name they are called, they are magical.

  4. I haven't seen a little windmill in forever, but I have a friend who has much larger ones in her garden. They're very colorful on a breezy day!

  5. We used to make them in school (Nebraska) and called them paper windmills or pinwheels. Generally we used colored paper with the teachers but any sheet of paper would do in kid play.
    Thank you for peeking in.

  7. Oh, I love pinwheels! I have a few plastic and fabric ones in the backyard, but the paper ones on sticks were special as a child, and mine loved them too. Of course, we'd run with them!
