Bread and toothpaste,
and a bellyful of smile
that's the way the pandemic,
wings the tarmac

Eye lashes and Masks
Cover those important words
unspoken yet conveyed
Keep those thoughts stored

Appointment and jab
Before a vaccine dab
two doses of sleepless nights,
eyes peeled microscopic visions

All our heroes applaud
Songs of gratitude to laud
Faces uncovered for smiling lips
And a hug at every corner, bliss.

  10. That’s a vivid image to accompany your Covid list poem, Gillena! I especially like the lines:
    ‘Eye lashes and Masks
    Cover those important words
    unspoken yet conveyed
    Keep those thoughts stored’.
It’s supposed to be over here, I’ve had both jabs, but the Indian variant has raised its ugly head and seems to be spreading. There has been talk of local lockdowns again, which is like shutting the gate when the horse has bolted.

  11. Sorry to hear this Kim. Best thing we can do is get the vaccine when available (I have not gotten any yet) and continue the health protocols
