MAYBE
Maybe she has children to feed.
she walks solo,
unlike those doves,
on the pavement.

Maybe sign of a bad hair day;
cotton head tie,
hesitant smile,
shy good morning.

Maybe she forgot her money;
or she lost it,
or she had none,
so she walks out.

Maybe they had none on the shelves.
Supermarkets,
even well stocked,
never suffice.
