MAYBE

They are waiting anxiously
for the lights to go out,

or maybe not the lights to go out,
for the curtains to open maybe,

maybe; just maybe, there be poems
wherein tunnels end, for light to shine.

Note
Any Ekphratic undertones are sheer coincidence, in double checking spelling of some words, I came across the music video, listened to it, and decided to add to the post.

  1. I like to think of the words waiting in the wings for their cue, or perhaps actors with the words memorized the moment before the curtain opens. I really like your approach to the challenge, Gillena. Thank you.

  9. I believe this is one of my favorites, by you, Gilllena... especially the ending. There is something about the reality of their expectations, and the feel that life is happening onstage, or in front of it.
