Monday WRites 68

[Newsday image sourced from a google search]

SUCH AWAKENINGS
Freed from the claws of night's screeching
Dropped through the portal void teeming

Where depth holds the landing of safety
Where depth holds the landing of lunacy

Pray the choice of sunshine of tomorrows
For the shadows too wait in largess links

Carnivorous gulps fold hungry air to feed
Brain of creative waves sandy shores shift

The celebration is sure from hopeful wishes
The celebration is sure from wondrous gifts

Wrapping clapping celebrating light shines again
Drumming strumming souls lifted rebirth regain

  3. "The celebration is sure from hopeful wishes
The celebration is sure from wondrous gifts"
This line right away, coming from you, reminds me of the many celebrations that Trinidadians hold. My daughter was amazed at the celebrations she attended here, tagging along with her husband (he is from Trinidad).
The whole poem puts one into a lighter mood, but happy with those celebrants.

  4. Sometimes I just let the poem wash over me...not drawn in so much by the words as the overall FEEL...and this felt musical, and I was captivated.
