GRAVEYARD RUN
There was a young man so love struck
The villagers swore he was moonstruck
Yet in the dead of night
He was seen to take flight
Through the graveyard like a lame duck

You've heard about the Monday Blues ❧✿❧ well this is Monday WRites (musing on the definition here of rite, as any customary observance or practice eg the rite of afternoon tea) ❧✿❧ When i read last Saturday's prompt over at the imaginary garden my mind went to
Dead Man's Chest (also known as Fifteen Men On The Dead Man's Chest or Derelict) a fictional sea song, originally from Robert Louis Stevenson's novel Treasure Island (1883). It was expanded in a poem, titled Derelict by Young E. Allison, published in the Louisville Courier-Journal in 1891. It has since been used in many later works of art in various forms.
In Treasure Island Stevenson only wrote the chorus, leaving the remainder of the song unwritten, and to the reader's imagination:
“ "Fifteen men on the dead man's chest--
...Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!
Drink and the devil had done for the rest--
...Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!"
Welcome to Monday WRites #62, ❧✿❧ Whats your mood like today ❧✿❧ I invite you to link in with one of your WRites
