ANOTHER WIN
match sticks at table, a definite must
new pack of cards, a welcome plus

fill that lacuna, the lunch time hour
hang the Jack such thrills to devour

another match stick added, game just won
the language of silence eyes do sound

the All Fours game, partners in sync
allow opponents, a sip of softdrink

Monday WRites 69

BIRD SONGS ELSEWHERE
I
So he peeled the bananas, cutting them in small pieces.
Not round slices, rough chunks, small rough chunks.
He placed this prized stock on the wall. I watched him.
A kind of morning ritual, this.

II
Down below, waters of The Carenage rippled, only if
You watched closely and intently.
Else, there it was, just part of a vast expanse.
You stretched your mind, but couldn't,
Try as you might, fathom width or depth. No brainer.

III
Vacations are like that, time stretches like gum
You've chewed, first knowing its sweetness,
Then just continuing the action of chewing.
But the satisfaction is there nontheless.

IV
So then the birds flew in on coloured wings.
Like hand crafted little trinkets you would buy
From a souvenir store down town. Feather, flutter.
They pecked at the little gift of bananas bits.

V
Here he was, my uncle, sweetening bird songs,
The kind you listened to, awakening to skies
Far away from home, well not that far away,
Only you couldn't taxi to get here.

Sweet my soul in soaring flight
Hidden in your word of life

Stay mountain, stay cloud
This word I must sing out aloud

Pause a moment wish that star
For it's shinning in realms afar

All of me reaching out to thee
Echos returning your love for me

Alleluia Alleluia
Alleluia

Monday WRites 68

[Newsday image sourced from a google search]

SUCH AWAKENINGS
Freed from the claws of night's screeching
Dropped through the portal void teeming

Where depth holds the landing of safety
Where depth holds the landing of lunacy

Pray the choice of sunshine of tomorrows
For the shadows too wait in largess links

Carnivorous gulps fold hungry air to feed
Brain of creative waves sandy shores shift

The celebration is sure from hopeful wishes
The celebration is sure from wondrous gifts

Wrapping clapping celebrating light shines again
Drumming strumming souls lifted rebirth regain

WISHES STORED
The apples were larger
Their colours were brighter

The Poui was pinker
And oh there goes a flower yellower

The Lady smiled a serene smile
And all was un-stirred for miles and miles

The cats meowed and stretched
Paws manicured and clipped

No I'm not a cat lover
I sought to tell her

So how did you get here she sighed
I might have automobile-d in I lied

Be this Egypt
Land of hieroglyphics

For someone had written on the wall
Just behind the Season of Fall

Be there love be there peace
Be there dreams but let them be sweet

For Cinderella you see, is a star
She shines in nighttime near and far

Holding wishes ever made
And they never ever fade

Though the fog of dawn
May sometimes let her yawn

Monday WRites 67

APPLE TALES
Sing ye song to morning dew
Come watch as wind dances too
Mountains which clouds sit upon
Reverent do these stalwarts don
Their garb of ages yet to view
And men to auger history anew
For never was the blood of life
A thing scorned to give us strife
Let there be breath to twitter in
Pulses good and joyful spin
Where harmony her courses serve
Sumptuous feasts of garden curve
Yet he that could not speak a word
Received to wit such crafty sword
Rose to fathom a gift of deceit
Prompted by an envious conceit
His own unscrupulous ploy to add
Oh sorrow sorrow within, now had.

TEA AND QUIRKY
we morph the way of cell phones
with this app and that
we list our various ring tones
wearing our collector's hat

hat app cat snap

our selfies take to feelings unwell
oh viral this oh viral that
over miles of cloudscapes to dwell
a new Narcissus brat
