I LISTEN

The song birds are quiet,

Rested from their dawn thrilling,

The sky silvery with some tints.

I wake before dawn and

I choose to wait for their songs,

Before getting out of bed.

What would morning be without them?

Today's mosaics 'The Shape of Leaves'

When
There is grand sun. Dare you to look her in the eye, and cold ever changing moon, pretentious as love outside of a movie theatre screen.

There is no aroma to the rain, petrichor is a lie that belongs to the earth. Wildflowers, seemingly pretty, are really weeds, reality check! You rip them out, they appear like magic rabbits in a hat.

When i'm feeling low, when the coffee is just a bitter dark draught in a mug with a silly drawing of a flower and a bird, and the apple peeled is cut across to reveal a star without a stupid night sky.

KISS THIS NIGHT

Since music sustains,

There’s no need for hunger,

No, let us feast for life regains

Help, of passion's well auger,

Come let us dance this night,

Let us fashion each star shine,

Us, just us two, under moon's sight;

Kiss goodbye those eyes that brine,

And nurture instead a giddy heart

Part thee waves sweetheart of mine

AROMA OF A BAY TREE

The bay tree let go of her scent.

To an evening breeze who spent,

All of her humour in a little

Tryst enlivening, nothing bitter

Should taste of the gift of roses,

Given when shy silence encloses,

The heart of two,

Meant to ensue,

The adventures that love  may,

Bring to them, that pass that way.

MORNING SMILED

Morning smiled her charming silvery grey cloud skyself above my wide eyed open stare A coolness to the August muggy backyard where leaves fallen decompose. Will today remain clear and bright?

Through the deep caves of thought I hear a voice that sings:—–by Oliver Wentdell Holmes Sr., from The Chambered Nautilus

LAZY DAYS AND MONDAYS
A song sings to the heart, from a deep place of lazy being. It gathers strength in its silence, reaching on unseen wings to a clever site of understanding.

Through the deep caves of thought I hear a voice that sings, a song so clear and smart, that a mundane Monday understands the hearts yearning for more than its lazy care.

I get up in the rhythm of serious understanding and reverent obedience. I go to the washing machine. It is time to do the laundry. Two tubs are whirled and swooshed, and hung out to air dry.  Well done to me, lazy retirement days are sooo very embracing.

PAN SOAR
From out of sweat and frustration
From humble beginnings
Licky ting Licky tang
Sweet scintillating music
Of bottle and spoon
To laurels of orchestral heights

Among the lilliputs of society
Labelled with the castaways
Merging and rising to higher heights
Standing tall between giants
Burgeoning through ocean and sky
Soaring to faraway lands

Responsibility riot and disorder
Measuring territorial distance with discord
Crossing the line into wine and jam
Gyrating straight to university
To stimulate entertain reward and merit
Pan really reach
[i wrote 'Pan Soar' late 1900's. It was first published at my website Patch Work at the cover page in 2001. However, i lost this website.  Pan Soar i also had printed on gift mugs and it was too, published in an anthology by poetry.com.]

HAPPY WORLD STEELPAN DAY.

STEELPAN OCTELLE
Bold and bright a phoenix at will,
Embers of bottle and spoon still
Smothering, caused so to rise
World class, rejecting demise;
Sweet music recycled from oil
Drums, a merriment coil.
Bold and bright a phoenix at will,
Embers of bottle and spoon still.

DINING OUT NOW

We had to sanitize our hands

We had to get our temperatures checked

We had to show our vaccination cards at the door

We had to remove our masks to drink and eat

Duh!

Safe zones they call them now

We had to dine out in the new normal

We had been dining out in the old normal

Ah Birthdays!

CREATIVITY SPARKS

Really...

Its not as if follow fashion lacks class, that one has to tippy toe on down cat walk;

All the while purring silk when in fact, roar is the more appropriate respond to the applause.

Depends...

Is moment all the time in the world?

Or does life extend to outer spheres

Willing to classify lapels and

sewing threads outside the clique?

Moreso...

Does light have to shine only in constricted spaces?

Isn't  night bigger than moon?

Yet moon shines to the applause of stars.

BACK THEN - AUGUST

August claimed to its fame

The name August Vacation

Even if schools closed in July

The longest school closing

Following on its heels was

The new school term

Going to a new class

With the smell of new books

The fortunate kids flew to

America, regardless of which state

Back at school they boasted

They went to America

Stay-at-home vacationers

Pelted mangoes, papered books

Spent time in the country by gran

And returned to school fattened
