PETAL DIVINING

A petal pluck a petal fall

A petal pluck a petal fall

Burning hot for love's fraction

A petal pluck a petal fall

A petal pluck a petal fall

Trembling heart pose a question

A petal pluck a petal fall

A petal pluck a petal fall

Questioning in silly action

A petal pluck a petal fall

A petal pluck a petal fall

Trusting in a daisy reaction

CHALLENGED: to write a love poem. Bear in mind that it doesn’t necessarily need to be romantic. It can also be dark and speak of ache and loss. It can transcend words and language. It can describe what the heart has been carrying within for a long time. The possibilities are endless.

DONE DEAL

She wanted to play mas so badly, she saved up her money for a pretty costume with beads and sequins and large plumage. Only he took a religious dive - or so she thought. He would even refuse a glass of wine at the dinner table.

Until come October;  one of her friends told her she had seen him in Tobago, having a whale of a time with another woman  She couldn't believe her ears but her eyes deceived her not. There was the photo of him in all his bacchanal glory with his new chosen in true carnival style.

That's it she decided. She was signing up for a costume in any section where her office buddies would be playing. She didn't care if it was two strings and a feather.  This year’s a different thing, I’ll not think of you. We are done!  DONE DEAL © gillena cox 2023

CHILDREN DRIFT

What do you mean everyone

How they will find

Their way back i said

Joseph led Chloe over to the fence

When they got close

And snapped his fingers

Then they went to bed

And slept for almost a day

Today's challenge goes like this:
Choose TWO books of prose
Pick ONE page from each
Extract SHORT LINES from each page*
ALTERNATE them to make a poem
Use italics and plain font to differentiate the text sources
Use one of the source lines or a combination as TITLE

I used lines form page 42 of Gone to drift by Diana McCaulay
AND

 INHALE

The morning air i chance to breathe

For such is destiny

A night now gone and sleep to ease

Oh breeze blown hastily

I've found today a gift so rare

Unwrapped is life anew

The slate of yesterday not bare

I add now words a few

What greater gift than just to be

To wonder or to sigh

The greatest part of being me

Is gratitude oh  my

In this my empty nested life

A bird song weed or cloud

Are much to be and without strife

And i can sing out loud

 QUESTIONS ON SUBTLE CHANGE

Who slurped the stars off the night sky?

And the rooster who crowed the three o'clock chant of dawn?

Who shifted the compass needle of rainy days and days of sun,

To thread instead a motif of haphazard wind and dust?

Tell me! who.

A GOOD INTENTION

I am no where near perfect,

So yes, i should resolve

To improve myself each year.

At the end of each day,

Fold your clothes and put them away,

No matter how tired you are.

A good resolution for this year

NATURE'S SECRET IS LOVE

I walk around in my garden, touching leaves, flower petals, the earth, the grass. I am alive and so are they. We share a common bond; a mystery of creation.

And so here we are; a part of something larger, something designed, something beautiful. I tell myself, i intend to be beautiful everyday of my life.

I breath in the air of early morning. I hold energizing my being. I exhale gratitude and praise for something higher, mightier than them and me exist; and it is good.

different colours bloom -

there's no heartbreak in this space

only beauty dwells
