Rumpus Quadrille
What a rumpus, boys fighting on
the floor,
I looked but i'd never seen them before,
Where did they come from? two naughty boys,
Disturbing the peace, upsetting our joys;
They rolled then rumpus-thumped
Out the door,
I swear! i'd never seen them before.

Nice one, Gillena, with echoes of Dr Seuss.

You capture the surprise and the violence of when a fight spills from the street into a home.

I just read about tussling cats, and now boys. They can be as rambunctious as puppies for sure!

Imagine that, two boys just doing what boys sometimes do.

I can appreciate your quadrille, Gillena! While raising 5 sons, we had a bit of rumpus-thumping at our house...mostly in fun :D
ReplyDeleteFunny! Rumpus-thumping is the perfect way to describe what the thuds a parent hears coming from the children's room!
ReplyDeleteMade me think of a children's book, especially 'rumpus-thumping'.
ReplyDeleteSure, ha, ha, We used to say that so often, "They're not ours." a memory evoked.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun scene, Gillena—those “rumpus-thumped” boys made me smile. Feels like a little story tumbled right out the door with them.
ReplyDeleteMuch love,
David
