SUN FIELDS
They set out early to harvest sunfruit
Earthlings thought the sun was a star
Those earthlings their thoughts are so cute
Woman carry a large earthen jar
For the radiant fields are ripe and a-plenty

PARANG AGAIN
To wit and with humour plenty,
The bard pens his parang merry,
A song of Christmas,
Caribbean borne, alas
No snow,
But angels a plenty show,
Us joy with their parang songs.
Adore him,
Gift him,
Love is borne again,
Merry the time again.

Spewing puppies?
Treking through the paths at The Wildfowl Trust. Rocky's is anxious to get to the paperbark tree, to hug the tree, since some of his friends had told him, how soft as velvet the tree trunk was.
Suddenly his mother asks, "where is Rocky?" Rocky she shouts and Rocky suddenly appears, like out of nowhere.
His mother hugs him and looks at his face for scratches or cuts then spins him around. "Are you okay Rocky?" We thought you might be abducted by aliens, when we didn't see you.
They reach the pavilion and stop to have some refreshments. Rocky says he is not hungry. But after mom's persistent nagging, tries to eat a sandwich.
He retches violently and out of his stomach spews a fluffly little puppy.
"What's happening!" everyone exclaims. "That is not our Rocky". Mom cries out and raises her arms upward in anguish.

Understated
Alive broad green banana fronds
Will sway and swish from left or right
Now gentled under morning sky
Pearls of raindrop settle there on
When watery clouds leave daylight
Tropical mockingbird might fly by
Duos of butterflies will round
And round above flitter alight
Snack lift and rise up high so high
Once a gentled wind decides to
Understate calm and silence too

Here And Over There
How can mist just absorb it all?
Mountain, palm, and aged tree;
Oh silver-lit sky! answer his call,
Say to morning, here i am, before
Deciding to just absorb it all;
There in yond garden, an effort
Of blossoming peeps over a wall,
There 's sure to be delighted
Hearts swooned to watch some fall,
Yin and yang fill empty whole
So how can mist just absorb it all?

But When
The dawn sky in chameleon mood,
Glints silver- grey, pale orange, or pink,
Sometimes, the moon smiles at me
Through a cloudless blanket.
And happiness floods my being,
Coffee becomes the cherry on top.
But when;
My granddaughter comes to my house,
Joy follows.

October 31st will be a public holiday here in Trinidad and Tobago for the observance of Divali (also spelt Diwali). On the street where i live there, a family hosts this festival every year and people from all over the country and also foreigners come to see the lights.Food is served freely on this night. The block which spans about four buildings, that part of the street is closed to traffic and bamboo sculptures are put in the street, deyas are mounted and lit on the holiday night. The festival is still popular but over recent years, the crowd has dwindled.

CLICK HERE TO VIEW MY 2008 Stellarenga
A Stellarenga is a seven-link poem containing only one-liners. The first and last links mention a cosmic body, e.g., a planet, a star or one of the luminaries. Renga style linkage means that each link stands separately yet relates to the preceding and following ku either by theme, wordplay, or twist of idea. A line-space is generally placed between each ku; a stellarenga is really a set of poems. As in all renga poems a straight or tell-all narrative should be avoided. A Stellarenga can be done solo or partnered. The Stellarenga was created by Alexis K. Rotella in March 1997)
