Five Lines In A Copybook

On the first line i will write my name.

Teacher ask for date;

Day, month and year,

Followed by subject;

Maybe my address should be next.

Second line question:

What year is it?

To tell all will be to expose

My age,  though i have no qualms there.

My house is in the country.

Third line will be poetry,

Written with a capital P,

About yellow hills,

Painting a canvas of small words;

No 52 on the road where i live.

The secrets of line four of this Chaguanas girl,

Will soon be exposed to

All in the class room,

Reading aloud to some snickers,

All in a day's English class.

The fifth and final line

Summons applause like

A limerick written to shake

The earth under a rose bush miles away

Here in San Juan; we students had planted

Reply to Snow-flakes by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Confetti Sky  - A Fold

Caught; a handful of magic in mittened hand,

Softly and gently some touched my cheek,

They came to me without wave of wand,

Snowflakes seen for very first time,

Out of pale blue sky, magic in mittened hand;

Called to witness this divine confetti,

I almost swoon as they land,

Light as a feather tired of sailing,

I agree, snowflakes are little poems grand,

Written on the wind for all to see,

Happy tourist i, magic in mittened hand.

And after understanding today's prompt
A Reply To 'Caged Bird by Maya Angelou'

Bird songs to a new dawn
Stir the sleeper to rise
Like clockwork the sky erupts
Whistles thrills and rhythm

Behind thin bars a pet bird yawns
His name unknow yet surmise
The life that would interrupt
Whistles thrills and rhythm

There in the underbrush,

Red like lips of a diva parting;

This plant called 'hot lips'.

The eco-guide tells us the legend:

A young man unprompted,

With his lips touch it;

The love of a woman he desires,

Surely truely will be his.

 Wise And Wanton: a Fold

Lets bridge the ocean with rays,

Curved as reflections of the rain;

Lets write a fairy tale in the ways

Seekers hope for more treasure,

Then span ripples of ocean with rays;

Timely and memorable like history,

Colourful and garish like those days

When everything goes haywire;

And only words spoken can phrase,

Intentions for solutions to end mayhem;

Then connect across ocean with rays

September Seasons: a haibun

I remember from school days, growing up;  a weather verse with a line "September remember"

I read about and marvel of the autumn/September equinox: derived from the Latin aequinoctium, from aequus (equal) and nox (genitive noctis, plural noctium) (of the equal nights). On the day of an equinox, daytime and nighttime are of approximately equal duration all over the planet.

 September 23rd and its another season of Trini Christmas music. One hundred day of it, to be exact; hosted by our 'Sweet 100.1 FM' radio station. I am locked on.

Parang, soca parang, christmas calypsoes and laced in,  some of the international traditional ones. But, the emphasis is Trini songs and music.

Nearness Of You

 Here we go again dear,

Bright moon our delight,

I had hoped for wine,

And twinkling stars, but

You and me near remain.

No one counts stars to wit,

It's just a game, romance

Can just as well be a

A book on your mantel,

A story to fount night.

When all is said and done

Awakening should be

Just as sweet as words

Like dripping of treacle

Spoken or read before
