IN FRIENDSHIP WITH AWAKENING: a quadrille

Sadness awakens me with overthinking and overhearing.

What of dust settled after evening breezes of yesterday

and  crispness of melon rind in wee hours of tomorrow?

 We've watched helplessly

as heartbeats erode sleep of predawn.

We now conspire to decipher time in silence.

I used  THIS LINK to create this Limerick. I had to type in word suggestions.
A Lass Called Tess
A Limerick by Anon
There once was a old lass who stood.
She said, "See the lovely redwood!"
It was quite eminent,
But not preeminent,
And she couldn't resist the brotherhood.

now here's my rewrite:

Good Man
There once was a man named Good
He didn't care where he stood
That was dangerous
Oh so dangerous
He fell into the river with his food

[The Kiss painting by Peter Engels from google]

 First Kiss - a quadrille

Hiccups respond to

Evening's cool fragrant sway of trees,

After spell of lips first meet,

How we desired of love unspoken

In tongues silent, tasting, exploring.

Then did gate of lips part to allow

one breath held, shared by two.

Alluring surprising first kiss.

CHALLENGED:  to write a poem about kissing, a special kiss that still haunts you, a peck, a snog, a kiss hello or a kiss goodbye. Whatever it is, try to capture the wordless intimacy of the act.
#First Kiss tells of the first kiss i shared with the man who later became my husband

The Pied Piper of Carnival

 People leave their homes.

Gravitating to the main street.

Because the music truck beckons.

We hear,  pause, and follow to see

The wonder that is carnival.

Colour, design, dance, command the space

That is the street for a few days

Fun under sunny skies

PETAL DIVINING

A petal pluck a petal fall

A petal pluck a petal fall

Burning hot for love's fraction

A petal pluck a petal fall

A petal pluck a petal fall

Trembling heart pose a question

A petal pluck a petal fall

A petal pluck a petal fall

Questioning in silly action

A petal pluck a petal fall

Trusting in a daisy reaction

CHALLENGED: to write a love poem. Bear in mind that it doesn’t necessarily need to be romantic. It can also be dark and speak of ache and loss. It can transcend words and language. It can describe what the heart has been carrying within for a long time. The possibilities are endless.

DONE DEAL

She wanted to play mas so badly, she saved up her money for a pretty costume with beads and sequins and large plumage. Only he took a religious dive - or so she thought. He would even refuse a glass of wine at the dinner table.

Until come October;  one of her friends told her she had seen him in Tobago, having a whale of a time with another woman  She couldn't believe her ears but her eyes deceived her not. There was the photo of him in all his bacchanal glory with his new chosen in true carnival style.

That's it she decided. She was signing up for a costume in any section where her office buddies would be playing. She didn't care if it was two strings and a feather.  This year’s a different thing, I’ll not think of you. We are done!  DONE DEAL © gillena cox 2023
