Welcome to Monday WRites # 339
You've heard about the Monday Blues ❧✿❧well this is  Monday WRites  (musing on the definition here of rite, as any customary observance for eg the rite of afternoon tea).

March marches on, with a war no one wants, except the perpetrators.
Lovers of peace and goodwill  standby The Ukraine

❧✿❧AYE AYE
"Aye aye" capt'n said the pirate wearing an eye patch.
He had had one too many Caribbean rums that night.
For eying the prize of another he got into a bar fight;
Sylph of a wench who would go willingly to the amplest catch.

TEARS IN FUTILITY

Should i weep since tears are fluid?

Blinding down cheeks

Lost to warmth of a careless dash

of control, yielded to frigid stares?

Oh conscience!!! who holds thee at arms distance?

Masked to hide the the burden of inhumanity and deceit?

 Fleeing, reason pausing,

Not to glimpse the smoke and terror of bombs, those good friends of armoured tanks,

But to inhale the stench of war,

To gulp the bitterness of irony and loss to comfort in sacred life,

In family circles,

Bubbling into an ether of nonexistence,

Ripe with splatter and death,

Senseless as the drop of a petal,

 in  ripple of an ocean,

too vast to understand that love conquers all.

John Sloan, Sun and Wind on the Roof

WHAT THE WIND TOOK

Tis a fierce wind that blows from the roof top,

And she no gentle maiden struggles, to

Keep a balance of pride and fortitude.

For what more has she to lose? left behind

Barefooted and aloof on a roof, to

Pin these garments cleansed of yesterdays dole,

When she mothered him, along with her child.

She should have let go of him a long time,

Like those slippers were, cast off to the wind.

What was he father? what was he a husband ?

What was he? she asks herself, and the wind,

Blew and blew that day, so that her slippers off and flew away.

Welcome to Monday WRites # 338
As February bids us goodbye, it leaves a world saddened by the atrocious action of war by Putin towards the Ukraine.

There is a mountain within a range of mountains here in sunny Trinidad and Tobago. the breezes can get quite chilly but no snow forms. The mountain named for Saint Benedict where the monks live. This one draws many a worshipper  to quiet meditation. To purchase honey and relics. To offer confessions and acts of penitence. To eat of the divine in holy masses. Even in chilly breezes love warms this mountain.

is there a mountain
that will offer sunflowers
or prayers for Kyiv

PASSION'S PUZZLE

So sweet and sad heaving bosom

She may shun him oh so handsome

Poor soul he fears himself go mad

Who pluck at way for her blossom

That torture to wavering lad

Heaving bosom so sweet and sad

The rose is red but that is why

Too many tears she cannot cry

And if perchance she takes to bed

For only there to lay and sigh

At verses written or just read

But that is why the rose is red

 A WORLD REDEEMED

Precious

Is the

Blood of Christ

Shed at Golgotha for

All of humanity so loved

By  God he gave his only

Begotten son to pay the redemption price

There at the cross there at Calvary Hill

MORNING SALUTATIONS
Flavour me mateys.
Add a bit of taste to this
Wondrously deep connection.
Let me not drown in  sorrow,
But always think of tomorrow,
When the clock chimes dawn,
And ye birds sing a salty ditty
Of grey blanket sky,
Magically painting herself  azure.
