Asked to use the line "I am bombarded yet I stand" in a prose not longer than 144 words

smaller and smaller
I am bombarded yet i stand: The curfew hours, State of emergences , lockdowns, constant hand washings, mask wearing, children zoom schooled, deaths, hospital bed spaces filled.

Now i am ready with flattening the curve: the vaccines, the opening of borders, the disposal masks, the designer masks, the nod of the head in greeting, the children returning to school.

Ready to understand and accept the new normal living.  In our largeness, this global village; we,  have become smaller and smaller

TINY APOSTLE

Tonight lights crave the outdoors  jostle

And will it  be for a long time so

The deya light tiny apostle

Abandoning the welcoming night spectacle

Though the lights crave outdoors jostle

Tonight the protocols says no

No to crowding and the years gone hustle

Now that masks are worn atop smiles

That crowds cease to mingle and to bustle

Now that wisdom seldom goes for show

Ah but the lights crave the outdoors  jostle

MY GARDEN

Another Crown of Thorns enters

My garden, another gift of tiny

Petals paired with unique flowers

With stems carrying sharp thorns?

And another Crown of Thorns enters

Thorny, like the showy bougainvillea

Succulent like the herbal aloes

A space awaits each new pot

For here is where beauty gathers

To outdo one another in quiet rivalry

And yet another Crown of Thorns enters

To write a quadrille using the prompted word - careen

Quadrille - Careen
This year swiftly steals by enmasked.
Still hidden are smiles to public guise
We careen felled by a virus
Unpredictable as the internet
Cruel as an angry storm
Our unsteady wobbly legs learned
That walking was a gift of
Going places and getting up close

WHORL OF ZINNIA PETALS - A Fold Poem

The zinnias were single whorled

They were pretty pinks and bright

Back in the day when i was a child

How i loved  too the orange bursts.

Our zinnias were single whorled

The Barbados Pride and the Vandas

The variety of colour always heeded

Reds, purples, and sunny yellows

A bouquet in which i ever reveled

Days of pulling out weeds by hand

My zinnias were single whorled

DUODORA - SOME TRUTH

Humbly  humbly

Bow creativity

Curtains rise and fall

Drama takes mid stage

Lies are not fiction

Creativity needs loud applauding

Off with your heads spirits of the untruth

Humbly  humbly

Those grinning skeletons

 Sorry excuses

Imperfect species

Oh for Suzi's sake!

Take responsibility right the wrongs

Forsooth just sweeten the pot with some truth

HAIBUN - FEAR
My heart thumps the wildest, when the earth shakes
the slightest tremor, the loudest quake. Seconds of life slip away. To where i retreat, my mind leaves
no trace. Like dying again and again, without the preps for the surgeon's knife.

The knives, bombs, guns, that anger and hatred dish out to  the starving appetite of war,
via mass media, be it fact be it  fictions. Those stories i can live without. Such are the violent events that bring terror to my heart.

There is fear too in loneliness, but there, challenges for joy in solitude reward the willing learner.

sometimes the dawn
lingers too long in absence
of bird whistles
