Quadrille #118: In the Inglenook

MY INGLENOOK
There's neither snow blizzard nor hoar
Yet i seek shelter to be lost and wonder
With my little gifts of dinosaurs
I spend my time in my little corner
Snug in pandemic days with little monsters
In an imagined Inglenook gives me much pleasure
© gillena cox 2020

NOTE:
An inglenook (Modern Scots ingleneuk), or chimney corner, is a recess that adjoins a fireplace. The word comes from ingle, meaning "fireplace" in Old English (from Old Scots or Irish aingeal, "angel" or euphemistically "fire"), and nook.

Some Prosery Cheer
Prompted to include in a bit of prose limited to 144 words this line
Reading what I have just written, I now believe
Louise Gluck, from Faithful and Virtuous Night

BEAUTIFUL MOON
The moon is beautiful a Japanese writer once intimated, to say I love you.
Sitting here, alone in my back yard, watching another rounded moon, i remember
the times i said that to you, those precious words about our moon, not knowing of its Japanese metaphor.
I feel its presence now, this beautiful moon. Its shapeshifting moodiness and its brilliance are all a part of  me.
Alone, i  look up and somehow i do not feel lonely. A heart that loves feels longing,
But is never lonely.
Reading what I have just written, I now believe.

BLURSDAYS: A SEVENLING

Every Blursday  birds sing at the appointed time

The same tune "wake up to a new day"

Don't these critters know its Blursday

Phase zero of lockdown days

Sun rises, sun sets

Quiet streets rock the sonorous silence

Early hand washing crazy corona days

© gillena cox 2020

NOTES
# The ABCD image contains some of the given words i found striking, though i only used Blursday in my poem today.
##While we here in T&T are no longer in  complete LOCKDOWN, Blursday is a reflection of that phase of our dealing with Covid 19.

The Dude Abides

AYE THERE BE HOPE
All you paragraphs, sentences, phrases abide with me.
For within your clauses are the causes you see.
So voiced are the words written
Into silence on pages, paper and eletronic being.
Fitted to sorrow, to joy, to
Pandemic depressions to
Poems and to hope.

 GLASS STILLETOS 2018

He wears his tux so handsomely. And she just meeting his sholders, in her glass stilletos. They pledge their love with romantic songs, now that the church binding part is done.

Games, speechs, dinner. The clink of glasses to toast the Mr and Mrs. Meeting the guests, all RSVP. And the wedding waltz.

We leave the wedding hall well pleased. A long line of traffic is expected  for a public holiday. Its been an awesome day surely

Monday WRites 272

Saturday 14th here in T&T was a holiday. Divali The Festival of Lights observed by the Hindu community. Divali is well embraced into our society so that non Hindus as well participate in the celebration by way of greetings, and in simple ways such as cusine, clothing and going out to see the lights. On the street where i live, this has been a large as life neighbourhood event in pre Covid years embracing persons from other parts of the country and as well foreigners to the event. This year 2020, sadly because of The Covid 19 protocols there was no visible signs of the Festival, street lighting, or visits to our street.

POSSIBILITIES
POSSIBILITIES
The possibility of making a poem possible
Strikes me as not impossible
Largely susceptible to whims and wordiness
Additionally likely to colour and moodiness
A muse stir into such accord will possibly
Allude to tantrum tongue twisters  audibly
Possible peacocks pruned to pretty plummage?

Of Houses, Walls and Whistling Winds
Prompted to include the line in a bit of prose
"there is nothing behind the wall
except a space where the wind whistles"
from “Drawings By Children” by Lisel Mueller

WIND SPEAK
What a September this was, with winds speaking in angry tongues.
I listened but could not comprehend  this wind-speak. Not only was there the language but also the angry action of ripping off bits of my roof and rearranging to it angry wind order.
You might think there is nothing behind the wall
except a space where the wind whistles ah but not so there is the bougainvillea shrub with its white blossoms coddled by bold radiant bracts.
We all need a bit of comfort from the storms of life, yes indeed.  There is the bougainvillea shrub behind the wall
