A CROWDED CANOPY
Dropstop the bird songs
They twitter on and on
As if the dawn were their platformstage
Who told them to singtwitter
Witholding butterflysundaes
Under a crayonscrawled canopy
Called sky

YOU AND ME
We friends know each other's language,
You say hello i offer a guage,
Of your mood and the scent of sage,
Drifting into my cage,
Coming from your kitchen, age
Old altar of skillful mage

QUADRILLE - LIGHT
By light of sky's dawn
I pocket my yawn
Drag one plastic chair onto the lawn
I have no desire to be a fawn
The say it will be a supermoon
Were i in love i would swoon
For some, love ends too soon.

It looks to me like you’re catching up, Gillena, so I’ll comment on one poem at a time.
ReplyDeleteI love your beautifully noisy crowded canopy, especially the wonderful kenning ‘singtwitter’ and the alliterative ‘crayonscrawled canopy’.
Writing your ekphrastic poem from the bird’s point of view was genius, as is the rhyme scheme - very bird-like.
And you did something similar with the light quadrille – I love the phrase ‘pocket my yawn’.
Thank you for your appreciation Kim

A wonderful catch-up collection, Gillena. I love the crayonscrawled canopy. And so poignant, the final line of the quadrille.

A crayonscrawled canopy is such a wonderful sky. Love that kenning.
ReplyDeleteAs for the second one, the wonderful connection between woman and bird through the language, the quadrille I am so envious that you are able to sit outside and watch the moon.
