 NEVER PROMISED

Since a rose garden was never promised,

There shouldn't  be a regret in the set.

Which of us two should remain the calmest,

In rondelet where our lips first met?

A word spoken loosely by the psalmist,

Sweeps paradise from our table's fete.

How suddenly clear sky can turn to mist!

What is bargained for is not what we get!

There must have been rules poemed to this tryst.

Spread the dewdrops over morning, oh let

The waning moon, her waxing which we missed,

Go gently into sanctuary; wet

With tears of a beloved's gone to list.

 The misunderstanding of romance bet.

Welcome to Monday WRites # 336
You've heard about the Monday Blues ❧✿❧well this is  Monday WRites  (musing on the definition here of rite, as any customary observance for eg the rite of afternoon tea).
HAPPY ST VALENTINE'S DAY

❧✿❧

NOT WHAT SHE WANTED
She sought a heavenly love. The kind that resides with sky and guiding stars. So easily she would recognize her Mr. Right. He would be her moon and she a bright star in his sight.

He would be patient, he would be kind. Not rude or boastful, never those gross behaviors he would display. And most of all; it would be for them a happily-ever-after story.
Little did she know that the heavenly love she got was not of seventh heaven. Because there were many a goddess who swore to entice her hapless love. He yielded to a love round like a moon.
Alas she exclaims "It is a moon wrapped in brown paper" not worth the while. Easily soaked in a drizzle. The kind that can be tossed to the garbage.

[Untitled (Landscape with Butterflies), c.1956by Dali at Wikipaintings]

WE THREE MAY BE SHADOWS

When i take out the garbage in the night

My shadow and i become three pass by

Then three again  in a returning sight

Why are we three you may ask of me why

Tis because of two night lights  beamed next door

My two shadows and me play at dramas

It's time for my bath when i've done this chore

I snuggle into comfy pajamas

Where are those shadows they've both run away

When did they run off can you tell me when

Is it because i didn't asked them to stay

They are going to make me lose my zen

Morning sun comes and nighttime moon follows

Chores to be done within all these hours

The sun that sparked so hot so bright is like

A silver penny never worth the fight

For what of clouds holding  a storm alike

Can heaven prevent a wayward glance now

Each day dazzles so hot so bright is like

Inferno walking the streets scant and bare

Timid ones are hidden away unlike

Brash revelers of heat and scorching sun

Is this a good time to go on a hike

If an arm can hide under cotton sleeve

Then sun can dance so hot so bright is like

Hello February.

A DAMEL'S LACE
Salty waves nibble at toes
Of life the ebbs and the flows

Cautious footsteps climbing rocks
Adventures bask in frilly frocks

Hearts abide through clouds shape
Fish refuse to take puny bait

However dark of tunnel space
Be there shone flicker for a damsel's lace

Goodbye dear January.

A Winter Vacation Remembered

She calls me out; my sister,  to "see something." Not knowing what, i comply. The door is slightly opened enough for a cold draft to swing its way in.

The scene before me is a snow globe. No,  not a snow globe; but all the little snow globes in the world, gathered together to perform a whirling dance.

Wow! What a sight. Awesome is the correct and very apt word for this first time spectacle to a warm blooded woman, from a hot sunny Caribbean island.

The only whiriligig i know is leaves dancing in a burst of enthusiastic breezes. Leaves of all shapes colours both green yellow and brown. And its not an autumn scene. Its an ordinary Caribbean Dry season happening.

So there i am with Ohhs eluding my throat escaping my lips. My eyes opened wide in wonder.
