THE PICNIC
This poem is a young family
This poem sits in Savannah grass
This poem is time out

She toddles up close to the pond,
But before she dares step in,
Dad grabs her struggling arms.
Mum smiles through pink lipstick;

Poui abloom against azure sky,
Kites vie in competitive swoops,
This wind knows how to lift a skirt,
Better then to sit or wear jeans.

This is all good, a Sunday in
The season of Easter, a basket
Stays the kente cloth spread, and
Cheese sandwiches taste better.

A young family fills this poem
Sprawled out on the Savannah greens
For a Sunday afternoon picnic.

#NOTE: In the above poem The original 'Boomerang Metaphor form' is corrupted, as the title does not include the BM refrain and the last verse strays a bit from the The original form, in the way the verse 1, is repeated in the verse 4

Monday WRites 205

OUT TO LUNCH MOTHER'S DAY
Seated near a window, the view in the far ground is of the Savannah crisp and brown for the drought that ensues. Nearer, just below the palm trees in their startling tallness, their entire length seen from above. Green fronds irregardless of the scorching sun, sway with the wind. A welcoming mother's day wine, and appetizers are served, before joining the line-up to the buffet table. Luncheon over, dishes are cleared away from tables.

lips of the mothers -
all the lipstick colours dulled
to a greasy shine

Making up today's mosaic are three of my fun art pieces, i am an amateur in this field, painting, drawing, and doing digital art just for the fun of it, as a hobby. To see larger views of each segment of the mosaic click the hyperlinks 2264 2266 2098.

Monday after Mothers Day, before we go back to the day to day schedule, a little bit more attention to mothers.

You've heard about the Monday Blues ❧✿❧ well this is Monday WRites (musing on the definition here of rite, as any customary observance or practice eg the rite of afternoon tea). A Happy Monday to all

GIFT
See now, i gift you little trinkets, tiny gems,
Different colours, shapes,
I string them together like pierced beads,
These syllables, words, phrases, sentences,
A garland to adorn, a favoured friend.
And call this gift precious, expression.
And present you with this poem, enduring.

Monday WRites 204

CUT THE CAKE
Refreshments, shared to cups and plates,
Guests, they have their fill,
For RSVP reserves a seat.

Ooohs and aaahs of bridal train,
Blessing cup already shared,
Music revolves around the space.

Regards from elders,
Bouquet jostled, well caught,
Enough! Up now! Cut the cake!

Today's mosaic shows a wedding gift i worked on from February to May of this year. There are all types of marriage bonds. i read of child marriages, marriages to bond countries, runaway marriages, romantic marriages, and of course there are lots more. The ones i luv are: where they fall in love, marry, and live happily ever after.

RTHYMN AND HUES
Birds of Paradise, hushed in a tall vase,
The size of grande, in the corner of a room.
Talk is precious, culture garrulous, if you
Take into consideration, the bass, the guitar
The tenor, in the steelband orchestra.
All voiced at the same time.
In sunlight scourching, in dim evening twilight,
Still its intensity, its voice, like the vibrancy
Of those Birds of Paradise imitating sunset.
Mocking pretenders of the dying evening.
Flora and music, specific of country
A biome marked Paradise (T&T) generously shared
Within its very own, rthymn and hues.

Monday WRites 203

THIS DROUGHT
Two A.M. i stir spoonfuls of longing into this drought
This cup of hot days, arid and dry as coconut brittle
Even the bird songs refuse the scherzando as they ought
They trill the dawn, then rest and hide from the scorching
Savouring dawn, stirring spoonfuls of longing into this drought
Ah for the wildflowers showery, and brash in spontaneity
Caring neither for rock nor rill, nor earthworms of any sort
I look back to long ago when hot days were not so scorching
Back then, talk of climate change, we shelved as we bought
Never understanding the intensity of future torrid days
Thus, two A.M. i stir spoonfuls of longing in this drought

Tis the Season of Easter and here in T&T while we delight in the blossoming Poui trees and the returning alleluias, it is extremely hot, folks say it hotter than many years ago and i agree, i remember a less intense dry season heat, without the Sahara Dust, when i was a child

HOPE AND RENEWAL
This poem is a tree
This poem is a new day
This poem is a gift

We hide Easter eggs, and then go about seeking.
The game goes thus, no peeking while hiding.
Sometimes a clue is given t-r-e-e.
This poem is a tree.

We remember three nails, we remember one tree.
We remember to add a savior;
Redemption, forgiveness, on dying breath,
This poem is a new day.

We love Easter for chocolate bunnies,
Wildflowers of varied colours,
Covering meadow and cracked pavements,
This poem is a gift.

Love alone clothes the Spring;
Heralded by Almond blossoms,
In renewal charity and hope.

This poem is a tree
This poem is a new day
This poem is a gift
