his first big competition

this wasn't the school concert hall
these were strangers called the audience

he could hear them cheering
just before the curtain rose
that's when he fainted

ARCH OF COLOUR
If i curved a question into arch of colour,
Would yellow be the taste on my tongue?
With sweet aromas of tomorrow, to her
Bosom cling, like spring time daffodils?
If i bridged raindrops into arch of colour,
Would deep overcasts, shoot innocence
Into wretched despair? To sadden mothers:
Gut, joints, blood, bones, dust, and tears;
Into scenarios, macabre enough to holler,
Enough! of horror from gadgets loathsome.
Let love alone; rainbow into arch of colour

When i jumped on the bannister with my cute style,
All the boys were frightened but only for a while.
The girls with their pigtail,
Wanted i to sway without fail.
But boys are the hearts i won there with a smile.

DOT LIMERICK
Once there were five dots wanting to be four.
So they went in haste to the grocery store.
There were melons and bananas,
And tomatoes singing Hosannas,
But nary a dot minimizer ever there to score.

KINDNESS UNSPOKEN
A smile a nod, not a word said
Such is kindness on a day foul or fair

A smile a nod, not a word said
Gentle hand outstretched received in prayer

A smile a nod, not a word said
Soup steaming hot in the belly of hunger bare

A smile a nod, not a word said
Umbrellas shared in a drizzle with flair

A smile a nod, not a word said
That hug, dearly departed laid to rest, for fare

Virtue or Vice
Prompted by Rommy. Challenged: to consider virtues and vices, or more specifically the Seven Deadly Sins or the Seven Heavenly Virtues. The Seven Deadly Sins are Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy and Pride. The Seven Heavenly Virtues are Chastity, Temperance, Charity, Diligence, Patience, Kindness and Humility. Your poem must include at least one of the names of the Virtues or Vices (and I know several of you will be tempted to use more than one - that's Pride right there).

MORNING A MYSTERY
This is the mystery of morning
When conscious breath is roused
Witness to whistlers and twitterers
In a frenzy of creation stirring
As Mocking bird and Kiskadee pledge
A song to each heart on knowing
No longer the shadow tones of dreams
Here now is reality for day's keeping

DAWN'S KISS
Red clouds greet me.
How cool this breeze kissing my face,
Red clouds greet me.
Has sky then turned topsy turvy?
Returning sunset to dawn's place,
Of morning breaking, at snail pace?
Red clouds greet me
