QUERULOUS SHADOWS
Superficially bright the night,
One star shines brighter, far above;
The sky a blanket covering heaven,
From a topsy turvy view here below

What wonders are above thee sky?
Who whimpers for a lullaby,
Are there owl hoots stored in jars?
Or ghosts slithering to graveyards most?

When stealest thou the colour of grackle,
To paint velvet curtains shroud of day,
What dramas enact thee far above?
That insomniacs lamp of streets do covet,

With expletives pierce ardour of quiet;
Buds push to sweet night jasmins show
Compete in favour for light of one star
To far perhaps to spank wretched earth.

Monday WRites 92

[image from google dot com]

HANGOVERS
Settling to new year is serious business
Again with those calendars, tsk tsk
Birthdays forgotten in the last year, revisit
Careful to pencil in, stars added
Time and timing is serious business
Wisps of mornings in hues pastel
Mirror year's beginning in dawn's stillness
Reflections are ribboned in oranges and gold
Like sun, dipping into pool of night's richness
What's not boxed away, like last year's Christmas
Perchance to be resolved, is serious business

"The Virgin understands the mystery of total surrender," he went on. and having loved and suffered, she freed us from pain. In the same way that Jesus freed us from sin.
By The River Pierda I Sat Down And Wept - Paulo Coelho.

HANDMAIDEN [2]
The Virgin, written in the mind of God,
She, who is chosen, and fashioned to will,
Understands, her task at hand;
Mystery of total surrender,
To time unfolded, and time yet unraveled;
Time it is, resounds in her - Yes

~His love inflames her before her being completes~

After she has been his resident thought,
She it is, who is vessel of honour;
The innocent lamb thus, is born for a world,
The perfect sacrifice from a world,
Where only himself begotten, can cleanse,
Can heal, and grant mercy to disobedience.

WHO KNOWS
With New Year comes freshness,
Here, desires flourish in start-all-over-agains

Accustomed moon, her shift shaping travails ply

Thoughts contour the landscape of goals
Mountains stoic, face diligent climbers
And purpose loom towards havens
Be they dreams, or distant beacons

Streams detour in easy flow
Planners, to-do lists, and calendars afflux
Which bird will fly off, or phoenix rise

The bile and treacle of days to determine

Monday WRites 91

[image from google dot com]

A JANUARY NOTE
Paper calendars, of pictures pretty,
Pinned to spaces, on the walls,
Be they wooden or be they walled;

Unblemished fruit and vegetables,
Sunsets and sunrises in radiant hue,
Quotes of inspiration, quaint and wise

Shape of moon, and festivals tide
Adding decor to count of days

CURTSY
It was dark enough to hear the clip clop of horses
Creeping into my night-stroked heart;

How could he?
Oh cruel fate!

I wore my petticoats, layer upon layer,
Saving myself for him alone;

Yet now, the ladies at the ballroom huddle
Together, whispering about
His new conquest, curtained, with rouged cheeks
In back of the hansom.

WORDS WORDS WORDS
Dictionary ponderings -
Next to adulting, juxtapose purposing;
All words you might say,
But, what about
His command;
Let there be...
And so it is.
