GRACE TO LOVE
War and peace and
Wedged between, tempers of greed;
Boundaries and borders and
Staked to claim, loss of reason;
Bullets and bomb and
Laid to waste, blood and bones crushed;
Heartache and loss and
Equations unsolved, all to nought

War and peace and
Lessons unlearned, to heartbeat of repetition;
War and peace and
Prize of destruction wanton;
War and peace and
Anguish for light in shroud of darkness

War and peace
Oh that light should
Fathom the grace to love
Least war and peace
Be forever at loggerheads

  1. A wonderful realisation on peace, though we know that most of the countries fail to implement it today. Sigh!

  5. "Equations unsolved, all to nought" yes, and the repetition and the carnage. Your poem should be sung with steady percussion and danced with "the grace to love."

  9. The tempers of greed are what has affected so many countries to the detriment of its citizens while other reap the profits. Perhaps there should be more protesting other than just us poets!

  10. "Oh that light should / Fathom the grace to love" This is the cry of the majority but the power is in the hands of the minority and so war and peace will be at loggerheads forever. Very sad truth. Sigh.

  12. Like that last stanza. It's almost a plea, a wail for mankind to stop the destruction. Well said, indeed!
