[Challenge to write a quadrille including the work present ]
❧✿❧
Present tense, stormy rain;
Now blessed and fled;
To somewhere, where the ocean's
Tossing up a fit.
A storm is to be named;
Letter-A, Letter-B, Letter-C;
Which shall it be?
It only is the beginning still;
There's lots of time to assign,
Naming letters.

You've heard about the Monday Blues
well this is Monday WRites (musing on the definition here of rite, as any customary observance for eg the rite of afternoon tea).
We have a lot of rain today in Toronto.

Those names we assign storms. Here's to hoping none of them become infamous this season. 💜

I love the way you begin in the present tense with ‘stormy rain’, Gillena, the evocative phrase ‘the ocean's tossing up a fit’, and then the way you casually ponder about the name of the coming storm. It’s clear that you have hurricane experience. I’ve only ever experienced that unusual storm in the UK back in the eighties. Do you know the poem ‘Hurricane Hits England’ by Grace Nichols? One of my favourites by her – I’m a fan of her poetry.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim. Thanks for your appreciation and i will search for Grace Nichols poem and read it
