MY GARDEN
Another Crown of Thorns enters
My garden, another gift of tiny
Petals paired with unique flowers
With stems carrying sharp thorns?
And another Crown of Thorns enters
Thorny, like the showy bougainvillea
Succulent like the herbal aloes
A space awaits each new pot
For here is where beauty gathers
To outdo one another in quiet rivalry
And yet another Crown of Thorns enters

Wonderful, Gillena as you take the concrete and still convey to so much abstract through their descriptions.

Great work with the form, and I like the use of 'Crown of Thorns' - I take it this is a type of flower? You can tell I'm not a gardener 😅

It's funny but a lot of us have used repetition. I think it makes the subject seem more real, like hammering it home. I like the effect here.

It's amazing that so much beauty often comes in the company of thorns.

I love how you've described all these plants, each jostling together for position, each with their own thorns, fighting to flourish, all so different yet co-existing. And yet with spiritual connotations. Well done :-)
