Moon of the morning,
Misshapen, how is it
You watch our pain unflinching?
Are you birthing our pain?
Lingering there? Moon of the morning.
Fixed is your stare.
Is it dare? or are you warning
Us to come out seek the light?
For life, is indeed of living;
In joy, or of its retreat,
Still to shine, Moon of the morning.

    Well she certainly didn't build a wall around her suffering she used it as the basis for her art, if you can't beat it, join it use it and so she did beautifully.

    indeed, moon as silent witness or birth mother, especially at dawn,

    a bold start to this poem Gillena, and yet it is still filled with hope ... and perhaps, that in itself, answers the question itself ...

    I like how you've handled this - definitely a fresh take/direction, one unexpected for using Kahlo as a point of inspiration.

    There is something so evocative of tying it all to the moon... somehow you can tie it so much pain, the lunacy and menstrual cycles... You widened her suffering for me.
