Kiskadee kis kis kadee
you sing your syllables
a morning tune for free
another of life's miracles

someone notes your calling
and ponders, this be poem
the art of some installing
word craft, a worthy totem.

  6. Wow, Gillena! I read the poem and tried to imagine what the kiskadee sounded like before listening to the video clip. I imagined a kissing sound. It's an amazing call.
Your quatrains have captured the soul of the bird. I love the sibilance in the opening lines, as if you are whispering to the bird, its free morning tune and the idea that it is a 'worthy totem'.
