CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
Twinkles off a thousand stars
in a dance of creation's tuning
meeting of spirit and mind twirl
like spiders to web design spinning
Seers of future molding realities
transports unseen to tangible form
music going on and on into distance
where upon tomorrow quells the storm
Of yesterday and further back
plugs them into the hope and care
of broken dreamers
piecing Christmas together as prayer

Writing Exercise (For Days of Little Time/ No Muse)
Karin's Challenge and rules [in a nutshell]: Take a letter, let a random word beginning with that letter arise in your mind, and then.... follow my other rules below!
(i) on your first draft, keep your pen (or typing digits) moving. (This is incredibly important if you are “making” yourself write.)
Also on this first draft: do not cross out; do not go back to fix; simply keep your pen (or fingers) moving ahead.
Keep the flow going for a certain span of time. Five minutes, ten minutes. It will be useful to set the time in advance. Do not make your time too long--ten minutes max
Now, you should have your first draft. Of course, you should feel free to revise it! You absolutely should revise it!
Keep in mind that the point of this prompt is really the exercise, not the particular theme.
So, first, remember that your piece does not need to have anything much to do with your letter or that word that came to mine. These are only jumping-off points.
Second, please try to use the technique to write something new,
MY EXERCISE GAVE ME THIS DRAFT:
When earth steals the twinkles off a thousand stars, and plugs them into the hopes and cares of broken dreamers, night mimics galaxies miles and unfathomable miles away, where only the seers of future molding realities like spinning spiders to web of design, transports the unseen to tangible form, thers is where at the edge of horizons meeting of spirit andmind twirl in adance of creations's tuning, the music going on and on far into the distace of yesterday and back to tomorrow

Monday WRites 136
[all images in this mosaic found at Pinterest]
JOY
We wait in joy for his being born
Saviour of the world so well sworn
Eyes peeled watching for that star
Once wise men followed from afar
He comes again to bring that hope
Just when we think we cannot cope
Dare we forget his holy sacrifice
Already is paid redemption's price
What a wondrous season of longing
We endure a new sense of belonging
To kingdom gathered under His wing
His salvation wisely then to cling
Thus the cause of great and lasting joy
Our hearts a manger for this baby boy

YIN AND YANG
Such is being yin and yang
As moon rises so is setting sun
Winter climes shudder in December
Non such weather here to us encumber
Rum guzzling parrandas in their twang
Heart songs pour out with so much fun
We all acknowedge this cause of joy
A son given the-manger-born boy
On a star guided night long ago
We remember again with hearts aglow
YIN AND YANG © gillena cox 2017
Note
1. Parranda: a form of Christmas caroling unique to Trinidad and Tobago and some Caribbean and Latin American countries
2. [Isaiah 9:6] For to us a child is born, to us a son is given

SWEET WATERMELON WISHES
I wish to sit at a watermelon table
Chanting dewdrops into a pulpy crisp
And succulent pink light crunchy fresh
Chanting dewdrops into a pulpy crisp
Wishing daisies into a meadow lush
Verdant with romantic petals plucked
And succulent pink light crunchy fresh
Will morning moon sweet paper white
Face taste of day to hot thirsty quench
Thus my wish to sit at a watermelon table

SERENAL
The paranderos of old
Their story told
By aginaldos sung
House to house all around
Rum flowed
Chac chacs swirled
The skirts of women merry
Christmas they did carry
In every glint of sunshine
In every beam of moonshine
Wives scorned husbands gone
Galavanting from dawn to dawn
Till the season simmered to an end
Till the season simmered to an end
SERENAL © gillena cox 2017
Note
1. Trinidadian Aguinaldo or Serenal is a music genre used in Parang (Parranda) a type of Christmas music that came to Trinidad and Tobago from Venezuela...
2. galavanting to wander about seeking pleasure or diversion; gad

Monday WRites 135
[images 1 and 5 are mine. 2,3,4, were found by a google search]
PREPARE YE
Strangely a voice taken by the wilderness
Carries through wind in supple willingness
Through tree branches and sand dunes
Air and sky lend ear to message strewn
There is a visitor and he who is coming
With his arrival will we be succumbing
To seducer friend intruder guest or cheat
Do we win him a feast of happy receipt
Preparation observes to itself a season
Rain or months brittle Dry lend reason
Nuances of hope become ready corners
Hearts of dust and grime let to scourers
A boy in a manger to whom knees bend
Offerings of health wealth and praise spend

WHY EAGLES SOAR
Free spirit that is me
Your indiscretion does not hold me
Nor does your weakness destroy me
Born to soar on eagle heights, me
I look down on a world made for me
A screech sculpted is left by me
So even after this planet audieu by me
Should in gentles ripples be glad of me
Your bullying will not eliminate me
WHY EAGLES SOAR © gillena cox 2017
In her prompt The Silence Breakers
Sherry says "The rise of this movement, during a year when the political regime is trying to roll women's rights back into the 1950's, is stirring our souls. The "Me, too" movement includes just about everyone we know - millions of women are coming into the light of day and speaking out. We are saying "Enough!" "

ZONE OF DOUBLE
What lure the likes of reflection holds,
For a heart to beat after its own
Folly to apples poison the fairest
And moon round and full there to behold
Who is vanity then to want of reason
Mirror mirror held in speculation
Becomes the verdict lends the sway of
Ancients claiming old souls thrust in today
Why worry at scars of time's passing

Monday Writes 134
STAR STUDDED JOURNEYMEN
Clatter of bones calls of days lost
Defeat in struggles cold gone lust
Mockery where light once burned
Empty sockets grin most, returned
Now all that was and this now past
Without blood hence now at last
Cage of support will rattle on anon
Till flesh returns or never lie be shun
Gather then crowns of seething green
Ever those boughs of steady wind seen
Bend thee in supple wondrous haze
Behold rapturous sight of dazzling gaze
Follow though the cold nights discourage
Enliven heart rekindle as day its courage
STAR STUDDED JOURNEYMEN © gillena cox 2017
Note
The Advent wreath, or Advent crown, is a Christian tradition that symbolizes the passage of the four weeks of Advent in the liturgical calendar of the Western church... usually a horizontal evergreen wreath with four candles... Beginning with the First Sunday of Advent, the lighting of a candle can be accompanied by a Bible reading, devotional time and prayers. An additional candle is lit during each subsequent week until, by the last Sunday before Christmas, all four candles are lit. Many Advent wreaths include a fifth, Christ candle which is lit at Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. The custom is observed both in family settings and at public church services.
❧✿❧A Happy Advent Season to all❧✿❧ The first Sunday Advent candle has been lit and hope journeys with renewed longing
