We are in still in our 3rd lockdown from here in Trinidad and Tobago.

You've heard about the Monday Blues well this is Monday WRites (musing on the definition here of rite, as any customary observance for eg the rite of afternoon tea).

Welcome to Monday WRites #297: A Happy Monday to all. Be Safe.

Challenge: to use the words
"Only mouths are we. Who sings the distant heart which safely exists in the center of all things"

❧✿❧

We are wearing the mask, in those places where the virus poses a threat to our humanity. Our voices may sound muffled at first, however our ears learn again to listen, more attentively.

So now we hear every word fresh and new, clear and sounded.

Listen we must; to cautions of distancing, sanitizing, hand washing, isolating. The word 'we' holds deeper meaning: within distance of oceans and horizons, no longer constraining boundaries as of before.

The consciousness of a higher power appeals to  us all

In this now then, only mouths are we. Who sings the distant heart which safely exists in the center of all things

  4. I think that we can only make it through this pandemic if we think about we... we do things for each other, even taking the jab when it's time.

  12. Gillena - I hadn't really thought about it, but you are right that we are listening more closely when people wear a mask. Another silver lining of the pandemic! Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday!

  14. It is so true that as we put up physical boundaries, we find we are open to the world in a new way:

'within distance of oceans and horizons, no longer constraining boundaries as of before.'

I hope this is helping you cope with lockdown, and that it will be over soon!

  15. Yes, Gillena, we do have to pay closer attention because of masks. It is even more difficult for people with hearing problems and no way of lip-reading. I hope that listening more carefully will continue and people will benefit from it, so that at least one good thing comes out of this awful pandemic.

  21. Very true Gillena. The Covid made all of us think hard and not just reflect and forget. It gets frightening by the minute!

  23. Yes, masks have truly made people pay more attention. I like how you took a classic sounding line and made it work for the modern voice. Nicely done.
