Its The Dry Season here in Trinidad and Tobago. We are also in The Carnival Season but the pandemic will prevent crowd activities; though the music will keep us   in the mood.

You've heard about the Monday Blues well this is Monday WRites (musing on the definition here of rite, as any customary observance for eg the rite of afternoon tea).
Welcome to Monday WRites #283: A Happy Monday to all. Be Safe.

today's challenge to write a haibun that references the Eagle

Visits to the zoo hold the sway of monkeys tails coiled around whatever support they find entertaining.
Don' t feed the monkeys your peanuts or anything else. That was a caution worth the while to be heeded to children
The birds of coskel colouered wings and beaks triggered a little bit of envy, if you were walking around in school uniform blues, hair braided and ribboned.
Eagles, hmm no eagles, but i remember aligators of the scheming eyes even when asleep

poems about eagles
their strength of span and grip -
always amazing

  7. Oh I have to chuckle about the wearing of uniforms that are more bland in color than the birds in the zoo! :)

  10. You painted a vivid picture here with the monkeys and their tethering tails, the envious birds stealing baubles from schoolchildrens' hair, and the scheming eyes of the alligators.

  14. Gillena - I think kids certainly miss some of the events that have been cancelled, but surely there is an inner child in all of us that is just as remorseful! Hoping for better times ahead! Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday!

  15. What a beautifully expressed and happy memory of a childhood visit to the zoo. I hope this helped banish the Monday blues!

  17. Your haiku reminds us of the power of poetry, its ability to connect us with something that's not readily available.

  18. I think you cannot keep an eagle in a zoo... they should be free.

  22. Hi Gillena
I'm sure the children will miss all the community carnival parades and fun this year, but hopefully it can be celebrated with treats and laughter in each and every home instead. Praying that we all stay safe from this terrible virus until everyone gets the vaccine
