MOST LIKELY THE MOON
In those days when love chilled me
like a winter's dream,
I should have stolen kisses from the moon
Instead of penning blues like harpist or bassist
Then i could have plucked my hoarded booty
like Cherry petals,
Wafting then in a zephyr of diaphanous delight
Rather than sulking in nadir of doubting
When love refuses to bounce a reciprocal
like unbalanced boomerang,
Look to moon her face malleable but firm her core
Given freely naught to drill or steal her sap

Then i could have plucked my hoarded booty
ReplyDeletelike Cherry petals,
what an intriguing image ... makes me think of spring and the cherry blossoms, and how light and airy this type of "snowfall" is .... such a startling contrast to a cold winter's moon (especially in the northern parts of the world) - and the idea of "blue moon" - and being cold, shut out of love, mourning this .... what a great juxtaposition of ideas here Gillena :)

I should have stolen kisses from the moon
ReplyDeleteInstead of penning blues like harpist or bassist
stolen the kisses and saved them for when most needed, perhaps

How beautifully descriptive this is Gillena. I am sure the Moon has seen many stolen kisses in her light.

How many of us had wished we would have followed love to the fullest at the beginning? At least that's what I take from this very intricate poem.
